Andrea Reimer – President
Andrea
is the Executive Director of the Western Canada Wilderness Committee, Canada
s largest membership-based wilderness preservation organization. She is also
the founder and principal of Strait Communications, a consulting firm which
provides communications, public outreach & strategic planning services to
clients in the non-profit and public sectors. Actively involved in her community,
Andrea currently sits as a director of CCEC Credit Union, Labour Environmental
Alliance and Your Local Farmer's Market Society and is a former elected trustee
on the Vancouver School Board. Andrea has been a vocal advocate at both the
civic and provincial level for reforms that increase the representation of
women in government.
Jennifer Clarke – Vice President
Jennifer Clarke has had a diverse career in journalism,
the public and private sectors. She is currently President of JPC Strategies Ltd., a consulting firm providing communications and project management support to projects such as the proposed National Maritime Centre
for the Pacific and the Arctic in North Vancouver’s waterfront. She also teaches political science at UBC and sits on the boards of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC, the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation and the Centre for the Study of Democratic Institutions at UBC.
Jennifer served three terms on Vancouver City Council, was a member of the GVRD and Translink Boards, and candidate for mayor in the 2002 civic election. Prior to her election she was the proprietor of three successful small businesses, a producer/journalist for public and commercial television in the U.S. and Canada, a U.S. vice-presidential candidate’s press secretary and a community volunteer.
She and her husband, Doug Clarke, are raising three children.
Nancy Zhang – Treasurer
Nancy Zhang is a CGA of Canada. She also got the designation of CPA of China and Certified Tax Advisor of China. She served as an accounting supervisor in China Information Technology Designing & Consulting Institute (This company employed over 1,200 employees and had annual revenues of $43 million CAD.) for more than five years and she has over ten years accounting experience. Now she studies the Financial Management Program at VCC in order to pursue and achieve her professional goals.
Christine Basque – Co–Chair: Women’s Campaign School and Fund Development
Christine is a professional fundraiser with over fifteen years experience working with non-profit organizations. She has worked and volunteered in women's organizations including Battered Women's Support Services and West Coast LEAF. Her professional background includes providing crisis support services and the development and implementation of revenue generating programs. Christine was born in Manchester, England and lived in Nigeria, Africa as a child before immigrating to Canada with her family.
Catherine Evans – Director
Catherine
Evans is a lawyer with a part-time practice and a partner in the communications
and strategic planning firm, Ethos Strategy Group. She has a background
in policy development from having worked for many years for the Government
of Ontario before coming to Vancouver in 1999 with her family. Catherine
is actively involved in a range of community organizations and is a founding
member of the BC Society for Public Education. Catherine has a long-standing
interest in both politics and women's issues and attended the Women's
Campaign School in 2004.
Cyndy Hill – Co–Chair: Women’s Campaign School
Cyndy is a 2003 graduate of the Women's Campaign School and works as a Development Consultant for organizations ranging from fledgling non-profits to the multifaceted campaigns of high profile corporations.
Cyndy is looking forward to completing the Fundraising Management Program at BCIT in December of next year to supplement her major in Sociology at Simon Fraser University. She actively serves on a number of non-profit Boards throughout the Lower Mainland and continues to enjoy lending her expertise in grant writing, fundraising, event management in a volunteer capacity to support community organizations.

Allison McDonald – Director
Jennifer Sweeney – Director
Jennifer Sweeney is a self-employed consultant and educator with a special
interest in leadership and governance. She holds a B.A. (Hon) from
UBC and a Master of Science degree from Purdue University. She worked
in health care for
14 years and has been active in her community. In 2006 she was named
a finalist for a Volunteer Vancouver Community Service Award for her
work in founding the BC Aphasia Centre. She has held leadership roles
as the Provincial Consultant for Pediatric Therapists as well as the Provincial
Coordinator for a project with the Canadian Mental Health Association.
She has always been interested in politics and recent events in her home
riding of Vancouver Kingsway renewed her interest in getting involved in
more formalized politics.
Sweeney is currently enrolled at the Justice Institute of BC’s program
for the Associate Certificate in Leadership and Conflict Resolution.
Janet Wiegand– Director
Janet is a graduate of the 2003 Women's Campaign School and works as a strategic planner at BC Hydro. There she manages components of the annual
strategic planning process and structures strategic issues in order to help figure out how best to manage them.
Janet brings a background working in both corporate and grassroots community settings. She has served on the board of a credit union, two radio stations and a social service organization in Vancouver and in Montreal. She is currently a director on the board of a charitable foundation.
